FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE.....Recent estate find.......
Antique travel shaving brush dating from the late 1800s \ early 1900s.
A metal cylinder has a screw cap on one end with corresponding threads on the other.
When removed, out slides a natural bristle brush with threads on the metal shaft that engage with
the threads on the container.
In order to secure it, you then use the same cap on the open end to hold the brush in place.
When closed, it measures only 2 1 inches in length.
I have inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size.
The bristles appear to be a bit wild and there are some rubs and minor abrasions on the metal container
from kicking around in a vanity drawer for decades.
The maker used a broken cross symbol on the lid as well as the words ''Sterilized'' and U.S.A.
Before WW2, the broken cross was a symbol primarily used by Native American craftsman as a sign of
good luck.
