I found this in one of 26 steamer trunks that I inherited from my mother in law.
George Shima was my mother in laws father(google him it is interesting )arrived in San Francisco in 1887 and went back to Japan in 1900 for his wedding to Shimeko Shimemura and she brought it with her to the USA.
She graduated from the University of Nagasaki in 1897 and worked as teacher in a mission school for girls before her marriage.
I have seen single Ojime beads sell for 0.00 the agate and 0.00 for the amber, the Woden swirl/Laquer for $ 112.00, this strand has five beads of each of these and 80 more of between .00-.00 each.If you have the time and patience you could more than double your money.
If you are crafty you could make many smaller necklaces adding newer beads that match or add interest.
