?This is an ORIGINAL pair of "bespoke" (made to measure) cavalry riding boots as worn by officers prior to WWII. I bought these boots from the late, great Manion's International Auction on December 10, 1989.  The boots came in the original Dehner's cardboard box, in which the boots will be shipped to the buyer protected by an outer shipping box.  Dehner's of Omaha, Nebraska is the most famous custom bootmaker in the United States and their boots are worn by polo players and dressage riders throughout the country to this day. In fact, according to Dehner, no less a figure than GEN George S. Patton had his boots made by Dehner!
If you were to buy these boots today, you would pay upwards of 00!
The boots are in VERY GOOD+ condition and are made of supple smooth brown calfskin leather and are fully leather-lined.  The boots have straps for use with boot hooks for pulling them on, which hooks are included along with an empty bottle of "Dehner's Leather Cream".  The boots are in a "human size" 11+ medium width.  I wear size 11D and these boots fit me quite comfortably when I was re-enacting.
Best of all, the boots have the name of the original purchaser ("Forrest Wilke") and so the boot's provenance may be researchable on Ancestry.com or one of the other veterans research services.
