    Description
?This is one of the more unique, ORIGINAL and RARE AAF uniforms I have in my collection.  I purchased the uniform from the late, great Military Marketplace (Tom Gordon) in Bainbridge, GA back in July, 1996.  The uniform appears to be tailor-made in India of the famous "Aertex" tropical fabric and lacks the usual British manufacturer's labels sewn in the inside.  The fabric was developed by the Aertex Company of Manchester, England for tropical uniforms of the British armed forces which would be comfortable in hot, humid regions, such as India, Burma and Ceylon.  Although after 1944 Aertex was made of green fabric for jungle warfare, this uniform is the original khaki shade, sometimes referred to as "KD" for Khaki Drill.
The uniform consists of a jacket which closely resembles both the British Aertex "bush jacket" and the Class A "Green" blouse of the AAF and a matching pair of Aertex pants with four front pleats with hung pockets at the hips and seat.  The jacket in VERY GOOD+ condition, with minor soiling on the right chest above the pocket and two of the cuff buttons missing (see images below). The jacket has both removable two-piece US Army brass buttons and 14th AF and CBI insignia on the right and left shoulders respectively.
The removable buttons and insignia allowed for laundering the jacket without damaging either of them (see images below of clips for buttons and snaps for attaching the insignia).
The jacket or blouse has two flapped chest pockets with inverted pleats, while the lower flapped pockets are the "bellows" type allowing for the carrying of large items.  The smaller buttons on the pocket flaps are also removable for laundering the jacket.  The rear of the jacket has gusseted "bi-swing" shoulders for freedom of arm movement and a large center vent for both movement and air circulation beneath the jacket. Lastly, the jacket has a permanently attached 43" waist belt with a US Army officer type buckle, allowing for a maximum waist size of 39.5".  The actual measurements of the jacket are as follows measured flat: Chest 24"; Sleeve length 22.5"; Waist 22"; and Overall 33".  It will comfortably fit someone who normally wears a 42/44 jacket.
The matching Aertex pants are also in VERY GOOD condition with just minoring spotting by the let hip pocket (see image below).  As previously mentioned, the pants have two hung hip pockets and two pockets on the seat.  The actual measurements of the pants lying flat are as follows:  Waist 18"; Inseam 31.75"; Stride or fly 13"; Hips 22" and Overall 44.75".  The pants have plain cuffs, with 2.5" hems which could be "let-down".  The fly is buttoned with plastic(?) buttons, one of which is broken. Lastly, I have included some items which I had with this uniform, which apparently I purchased separately from one of The Soldier's Trunk Auctions, consisting of  the business card of LT Joseph E. Tollett, Jr., a clutch back "AVG" (American Volunteer Group, aka the "Flying Tigers") collar insigne, a "V" book of paper matches and a British green jacket belt.  I have been unable to ascertain anything online about LT Tollett, much less any association with the Flying Tigers or 14th Air Force, so I'm throwing in these items as well.
So, here's an opportunity for the advanced AAF collector or Flying Tiger re-enactor to obtain an original WWII Aertex tropical uniform in a "human size" and in great condition. The buyer will have my usual unconditional guarantee of authenticity and a five-day (
not the 14-days that they insert in my listings without my consent
) right of inspection and return/refund privilege, excluding postage.
