    Description

    This is an original WWII brown leather A-2 flight jacket with rank (LT), Air Corps leather patch with  embroidered thread. Pilot wing stamped/painted on leather and unit hand-painted patch ('Shangri-La') on leather. SIZE IS 44.
    Art work on back - 'Patsy Longhair', bottom right 'Sentimental Journey'. Under Patsy-'Good mission. We tried out a new bombing tactic, it should work out good. No flack or fighters. Some rockets in the distance.  (19) Duesburg-Ruhr Valley, accurate flak- Curtth left formation after target and headed for Belgium. Hale thru radio room, blue scared as hell.'
    NOTE...5th photo show the right arm pit thread that has been separated (not torn) and the 12th photo show some wear inside the stretch cuff.  Not sure if the individual was assigned to the 4th Fighter Group in England...??? The bell attached to the collar is stamped 'CROTTA AZZURRA CAPRI'. It means Capri Blue Crotta. The Blue Grotto is a sea cave on the coast of the island of Capri, southern Italy. Sunlight passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern. The cave extends some 50 meters into the cliff at the surface and is about 150 (490 ft) meters deep, with a sandy bottom.
