    Original WWII US Army M1938 OD Field Jacket, Named, Sgt, 29th Infantry Division
    This is an identified 29th Infantry Division field jacket with some research data on original owner. The jacket has Sergeants rank insignia on both arms. The 29th Infantry Division patch is original to the jacket and the research data ties the owner to this division by his point of enlistment at Fort George Meade Maryland.
    The original owner's name is clearly written in the front fly and his laundry number is visible inside the collar.
    Research from the National Archives and several other sources has shown that this individual enlisted in March of 1942 at Fort George Meade Maryland. His Grave Marker indicates that his final army rank was Staff Sergeant. A photo of the marker as well as copies of all other research documentation compiled will be included for the high bidder.
    The jacket itself is in excellent condition with only part of one cuff button broken off. Talon zipper works perfectly and overall the jacket presents very well. The exterior material of the jacket is not the same fabric normally used for field jackets, but instead appears to be the material normally used for the slightly heavier cold weather uniform jackets. I have heard that the 29th infantry had used some English made jackets in field trials in England prior to the invasion, so this could be an official test jacket or a private-purchase custom-made jacket. Fully tested with UV light and nothing glows.
    A rare original 29th Infantry Division uniform item that could very well have crossed the beaches of Normandy during WWII.
