TIFFANY BLUE FAVRILE, CHARGER OR LOW CENTER PIECE BOWL, WONDERFUL IRIDESCENCE~~

Description

For auction is a large art glass charger or low center piece bowl made by Tiffany Studios, New York. This is from my personal collection. The bowl is done in Tiffany's most highly collected Blue Favrile Glass.  The charger has some size to it as it stands 1 5/8" tall and has a diameter of 11 3/8".
The base glass of this charger is a cobalt blue. When the charger is held to the light is has a greenish hue to it. The blue Iridescence or luster is just unbelievable!! My camera cannot pick up the brightness of the blue as the light reflects so strongly off of it. You can see beautiful hues of purples and blue within the iridescence. The purple iridescence circle the middle part of the charger as well as the underside. This bowl looks like it was made of metal because of its highly reflective surface, yet it is so fragile as it is really glass. This is a large piece of art glass and was considered to be  vulnerable to damage because of its size. It was also difficult to blow and keeps its shape because of its size.
This charger or bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings to the piece. There are a few minor small scratches on the inside high spot and underneath bottom but nothing that is considered obtrusive. There are also a few surface bumps on the inside. The bowl has a counter sunk polished pontil, the sign of quality art glass. The piece is not signed but I am attributing this to have been made by LC Tiffany-Favrile. This piece more than likely had a paper label and it came off from washing over time.
You can tell always tell Tiffany's blue Favrile from Steuben's blue Aurene glass, The Tiffany blue has a courser texture when rubbed against your face. The Steuben Blue Aurene is smooth like a baby's butt. Purchase with confidence as quality art glass especially of this size is becoming hard to find in excellent condition. This charger or low bowl bowl was made circa 1900-1915.
