Description
Veterinarian's Service Dress Coat - 4th Infantry DivisionThis super condition 1926 service uniform coat is identified to a major in the Veterinarian Corps, only by his initials inside the coat, "R.C.". There is no tailor label or size but the coat is made for a tall man. The ribbon bar displays medals, WWI Victory with 5 battle stars, Medaille Commemorative de la Grande Guerre, Verdun Medal, and American Legion. Two bullion overseas stripes are on the left cuff representing at least one year overseas. Brass belt hooks affixed to the lower back side areas for support of the Sam Browne Belt.
The veterinarian collar insignia are unmarked and are screw back post. One insignia has the small thumb nuts, the other uses eaerly clutches assuming the nuts went missing. The US insignia are pin back with locking rings. The major oak leaves are unmarked - pin back with open catch.
A nice big 4th Division patch is most definitely original to the coat, made with embroidered insignia on a darker shade of gaberdine that that of the coat.
Very clean, some wear to the silk on the ribbons, and OS stripes. Needs to be researched on the owner.
