    Description

Victorian Pinchbeck & 10K Gold Lava Cameo Brooch N. Freeman NYC c.1853
The cameo is currently in great estate condition and ready to wear but I believe it had been broken and repaired in the past. There is discoloration on her face where I believe a break was polished, also the frame and clasp are pinchbeck but the applied leaves are 10k yellow gold. The pin clasp is a post 1930 replacement.
The piece is not signed or hallmarked but the label on the back of the box indicates it was made or sold in New York City. Also a 289 or 389 Broadway is visible as well as Jeweler and the first part of a name Free. There was a Norman Freeman who worked in New York City at 289 Broadway from 1850-1853 so it is a good bet that is how originally made this piece.
The piece measures 2" x 1.75" and weighs 26.2 grams
