WWII US Merchant Marine Officer Khaki Cotton Uniform Coat, Captain, USMS USMM

WWII era US Merchant Marine Captain's summer khaki cotton uniform coat in great condition. This has no size markings, but the torso it is displayed on measures a 42 inch chest, and 38 inch waist. As the photos demonstrate, the coat buttons easily enough at the chest, but can't button at the waist. Perhaps a 40+ inch chest, and 36ish inch waist. This is the early pattern coat, having bellowed lower pockets, versus the sewn-down type later in the war. The photo shows the left sleeve longer than the right, this being the depth of the cuff hem of both sleeves. The buttons are the later post-1943 style of USMS. A full integrated waist belt is also present. The captain's shoulder boards are the wartime flat style, not curved, with gold lace in fine condition. The anchor devices are gold metallic bullion thread. Interestingly enough, the buttons on the boards are US Navy, rather than USMS, but appear to have been originally made this way.
